On Dec. 4, 2005, a small-scale replica of the Rochester Elevator crept slowly down Main Street during the 54th Annual Greater Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade.

Oakland University students in the La Pittura student art group and Anthropology Club designed and built a float to raise awareness of the elevator move project.

Many thanks to the OU students and Dr. Richard Stamps, OU associate professor of anthropology and a member of the Oakland County Historical Commission, for their generosity and hard work in creating the float.

Rochester's Christmas parade is the largest in Michigan. The 2005 theme was "Holiday Matinee on Main Street." The parade was broadcast live by WXYZ Channel 7.
